Road Construction in Barnstable to Continue Until Next Month

BARNSTABLE–Construction to improve pavement across Barnstable began this week and will continue into October.

Hyannis-Barnstable Road between Braggs Lane, Coolidge Street, Highland Avenue, Lewis Pond Road, Edwards Road, Ocean Street between Main and South Street, Old Main Street, Squaw Island Road, West Main Street, and Lovell Road will be worked on.

Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will continue until October 18.

Construction done by MCE Dirtworks, the contractor for the project, will include clearing overgrowth along the side of the roads, sweeping the streets, replacing sections of the curbs, and installing new pavement surfaces.

Through traffic will be maintained throughout the process, and lane closures will have police details associated to direct traffic. Motorists are advised to potentially seek alternate routes, and to use extreme caution when travelling through construction areas.
