Rotary Club of Bourne-Sandwich Hosts Lipizzan Stallions Event

STALLIONBOURNE – Join the Rotary Club of Bourne-Sandwich on August 26, 27 and 28 as they present Hermann’s Original Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria.

Advance tickets are now available online at rotaryclubtickets.com and are $15 for adults and $12 for children.

The Lipizzan’s “Airs Above the Ground” performances are focused on precision as the stallions offer a variety of difficult maneuvers and refined leaps originally meant for use by mounted riders to inspire terror in the hearts of foot soldiers.

These moves include the Levade, where the horse rides on his haunches from a standstill position and tucks his forelegs under him as he maintains a 45 degree angle, the Courbette, where the horse does several jumps on his hind legs while holding his forelegs off the ground and the Capriole, where the horse leaps from all four feet and, at the peak of elevation, strikes out violently with his hind legs.

“Airs Above the Ground” performances are 90 minutes long and will take place at 5 p.m. on August 26, 5 p.m. on August 27 and 2 p.m. on August 28.

They will be held at the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Bourne.

All proceeds go to support the stallions and the Good Works fund of the Rotary Club of Bourne-Sandwich.

The club supports community focused non-profit organizations, awards scholarships, awards scholarships to high school students and supports a variety of local and international charitable causes.
