Route 6 Sign Replacement Effort to Ramp Up

BARNSTABLE – State crews will continue the installation of new road signs on Route 6 beginning Tuesday.

Workers from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be replacing the ground mounted signs along the highway from Sandwich to Eastham.

The project is expected to wrap up just before Memorial Day.

No lane closures will be required. Police details will be in place while crews are working in the shoulder of the highway.

The work will happen between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Many of the old signs had lost their reflectivity, leading to the major replacement effort.
