Senior Environment Corps Offering Home Radon Testing Cape-Wide

CAPE COD – Volunteers with RSVP Senior Environment Corps will be on the Cape for the next several weeks conducting home radon testing for interested homeowners across Cape Cod and the Islands.

The volunteers have been trained by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and will conduct the testing in a way designed to provide the most accurate results.

Homeowners interested in taking advantage of the service are being asked only to cover the $30 postage cost for a confidential lab report.

Radon is a naturally occurring odorless gas that seeps into homes from the surrounding soil, and testing for is must be done during cold weather while homes are closed up and there is less fresh air circulating.

Homeowners interested in the testing are encouraged to contact Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands now through March 30th.
