BOURNE –  Runners will hit the roads of Cape Cod this weekend to raise awareness about the impact of heroin addiction.

The Cape Cod Run From Addiction is a two-day event starting Saturday at the Bourne Public Library and will wrap up on Sunday at Provincetown Town Hall. Day two of the event begins in Chatham.

Runners will plant 15 flags at every town hall on Cape Cod, representing all 15 towns on Cape Cod, to bring attention to the issue. The flags are imprinted with the phrase “stop the madness.”

The event doubles as a fundraiser, supporting the Open Doorway of Cape Cod, a local non-profit aiming to raise awareness about the addiction crisis.

Organizers are expecting 150 to 200 runners to participate in the relay event.
