SAGAMORE – The Army Corps of Engineers has once again delayed the start of lane closures on the Sagamore Bridge.
One lane in each direction will be shut down starting Thursday, according to the latest update from the Corps.
The restrictions were set to start on Monday, but crews began working underneath the bridge instead of on the roadway. The Corps then pushed back the closures to Wednesday before issuing another delay.
The lane shutdowns will be weather dependent.
Plans call for replacing damaged roadway joints, improving the sidewalk and increasing waterproof elements of the span.
Work is expected to last through late May. There will be no lane closures after Memorial Day.
Similar work is scheduled for the Bourne Bridge after Labor Day.
