Sandwich and Bourne Reach Agreement on Beach Stickers

sandwich beachBOURNE – Bourne residents will now be able to purchase Sandwich beach stickers and have access to the town’s beaches.

Sandwich agreed to the deal recently, allowing up to 200 Bourne residents access to the town’s beaches, but continuing to allow Sandwich residents to purchase permits to shellfish in Bourne at resident rates.

Bourne selectman Michael Blanton said there are some exceptions to the Sandwich beach sticker.

“It does not include access to the Sandy Neck portion, which is really the Town of Barnstable, so Sandwich selectmen were very clear that, that was off the table,” said Blanton.

Up to 200 Sandwich residents would also be able to buy Bourne beach stickers at the town’s resident rate of $25 a year.

The rate would be $35 for Bourne residents, which is less than the $105 rate for non-residents.

Sandwich residents would pay $25, which is less than the $50 non-resident rate.

“It’s about the beaches, in principle, but I think it also opens up the opportunity to continue the conversation about a myriad of other potential concerns between Bourne and Sandwich,” said Blanton.
