Sandwich Arts Alliance Takes on New Leadership

SANDWICH- The Sandwich Arts Alliance will soon be seeing a shift in leadership as part time staff will now take full-time managerial roles around the organization.

“I’m stepping aside as president. What we did was divide my position into three pieces, development, president, and executive director,” said founder Joanne Westerhouse.

Changes will include the promotion of Cathy Ode, who will now serve as president, along with Karen Santos now serving as acting executive director, and Westerhouse serving as director of development.

Ode, who has been with the group since 2016 has served as marketing coordinator, and board secretary.

Santos, who is new to the alliance, has helped boost membership and outreach efforts for numerous Cape art outlets, as well as animal welfare groups.

To this day the alliance has accumulated around 300 members—that consist of performers, visual literary artists, and arts supporters.

“We have done numerous things for the artists in the community by giving them a chance to be seen. That’s the visual artists, the literary, and the preforming artists as well,” said Westerhouse.

The nonprofit was officially launched back at the 2015 ‘SandwichFest’ through support provided by the Glass Town Cultural District Committee, and Sandwich’s Chamber of Commerce.

Westerhouse adds “I think we have done a lot to provide entertainment to the general community and to give them interesting programs to attend throughout the years.”
