SANDWICH – The Town of Sandwich has begun its preparations for the Fiscal 2018 budget process, starting with a meeting this week between the Board of Selectmen, school and finance committees.

While discussing several options on how to begin the budget process, the board decided by a 4-1 vote that the school committee should begin its budgeting plan by not exceeding increases for the FY 2018 budget by more than 2.5 percent.

The approved FY 2017 budget for the school district was just under $32 million.

Early figures put the town’s FY 2018 spending plan at $77.2 million.

Public hearings on the budget will take place in February.
