SANDWICH – The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce will be breaking ground Tuesday on its new Welcome Center off Route 130.

The 2,000 square-foot facility will serve visitors to Sandwich and will include restrooms and chamber offices.

The center will also be open year-round.

The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m.

The Chamber had hoped to have the new center open for the summer tourist season but with construction just about to get underway, the new targeted opening is by the end of the summer, according to Jay Pateakos, the executive director of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce.
