Sandwich Officials Offer Flood Counseling

SANDWICH – Sandwich officials are offering to meet with property owners to discuss flood mitigation efforts, particularly with regard to the 825 structures in town included in the high risk flood zone known as the Special Flood Hazard Area.

They’re shown as flood zones beginning with the letters A and V on a flood map.

Building Commissioner Brendan Brides said he’s available to discuss possible flooding at your property.

His office meets the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System, discussions could result in discounts for property owners who work with the town toward flood mitigation efforts.

To schedule an appointment, call Office Manager Michelle Raymond at 508-888-4200.

In addition, Barnstable County’s Floodplain Coordinator, Shannon Jarbeau, is also available to discuss flood insurance, she can be reached at 508-375-6952. Flood insurance is not included in most homeowners’ insurance policies but is available.
