SANDWICH – Sandwich voters removed two incumbents from office in Thursday’s election and narrowly approved the public safety building plan.
Incumbent selectman Susan James and challenger David Sampson won two available seats, while incumbent Ralph Vitacco was defeated.
Former selectman James Pierce was elected to the school committee, along with incumbent Kerri Ames. Current School Committee Chairwoman Nancy Crossman lost her seat.
Pam Snyder retained her spot on the board of health over Jim Grady.
Town Clerk Taylor White easily defeated challenger Harold “Woody” Mitchell.
Town Assessor Lawrence Harrington ran unopposed.
Sandwich voters approved a $17 million debt exclusion to fund a scaled back joint public safety facility, but rejected an additional $750,000 to hire eight additional firefighters for the East Sandwich substation.
