Saturday Powerball Jackpot Increases to $750 Million

HYANNIS – The recent lottery frenzy continues across the nation as the Powerball jackpot for the Saturday drawing is now an estimated $750 million.

That makes it the third-largest Powerball jackpot and the fourth-largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever.

The cash option is an estimated $428.6 million.

The largest U.S. lottery jackpot of all time is $1.586 billion, hit earlier this week in the Mega Millions drawing.

“As the excitement for our customers and our retailers continues with another near-record jackpot this weekend, we encourage everyone to keep the experience of playing the lottery fun by playing responsibly,” said Michael Sweeney, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Saturday night’s Powerball drawing will be the 22nd since the jackpot was last hit August 11, when a $245.6 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in New York.

The $750 million jackpot is the game’s largest since August 23, 2017, when a ticket sold in Chicopee was the lone winner of a $758.7 million jackpot.

Powerball tickets are $2 each and can be played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tickets for Saturday’s drawing can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. Saturday at Massachusetts Lottery retailers across the state.
