Scallop Fest Announces Plans for Enhanced Event This Fall

ScallopsEAST FALMOUTH – The popular scallop festival which was moved to the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in East Falmouth a couple of years ago will feature a new image for its 47th year.

President of the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce Marie Oliva said participants can expect live music, more cultural events and a new branding image at this year’s newly-dubbed Cape Cod Scallop Fest in September.

“We’re changing the layout so it has a village-like atmosphere to it,” Oliva said. “We plan to have Americana, country and tribute bands to kick it up a notch.”

Like in previous years, the event will feature fried scallop and chicken dinners, beer and wine gardens, kids’ rides and a juried arts and crafts show, among other events.

The festival is the chamber’s largest fundraiser, and this year Oliva said there will be over 40 local business sponsors.

Though still in the planning phase, the event is slated for September 23-25 at the fairgrounds on 1220 Nathan Ellis Highway, Route 151.
