“Sea Change Film And Discussion Series Starts On The 31st

WELLFLEET – In honor of the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife sanctuary’s 60th anniversary, you’re invited to the 6th annual Sea change environmental film and discussion series!  It will take place at the Welfleet Harbor Actors Theater.

Birds are this year’s theme.

First up, on Saturday, March 31st from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, “Birds of May” will be shown.  The film details the competing interests of Red Knots, a declining shorebird that depends on horseshoe crab eggs in the Delaware Bay during migration stopovers, and the expansion of potentially disruptive shellfish farming there.

A second film, titled “Cormorants in the Crosshairs”, will also be shown.  It looks at efforts to protect the salmon fishery in the Pacific Northwest by killing double-crested cormorants, who are viewed as a prime predator.

Then, on Saturday, April 28th, also from 7:00 to 9:00, the series concludes with “The Central Park Effect”, an entertaining profile of the bird watching community of the Park which is located in Manhattan and actually serves as an important stop for migrating birds.

Discussions with special guests will take place after the showings.

To purchase tickets, call 508-349-9428.
