BOURNE – Six seals that have been rehabilitating at the National Marine Life Center in Bourne since late spring are set for release tonight in Sandwich.
The seals were all separated from their mothers and were unable to care for themselves, this is the largest release in the Center’s history.
Kathy Zagzebski, Executive Director of the Marine Life Center, says the mothers of the pups were likely scared away by human interaction with the young seals and reminds the public to stay at least 150 feet away from injured or resting animals and to call authorities if you find one.
The Public is invited to watch the animals return to the wild, the event will take place tonight at 6 at Scusset beach in Sandwich.
