Seashore Holding 5K to Benefit Cape Cod Healthcare Cardiac Program

EASTHAM – The Cape Cod National Seashore is holding a 5K next month to benefit the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Cape Cod Healthcare and the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

The third annual Healthy Parks, Healthy People 5K Run and Walk for Heart Health begins and ends at Nauset Regional High School. The course features trails and roads through the National Seashore.

The event is planned for Saturday, September 23 at 9 a.m.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program aims to help patients regain their strength and manage their future heart health. The Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore is the fundraising partner for the park and aims to protect, preserve, and enhance the environment and heritage of the Seashore.

“I, along with a number of our park staff, are actively training for this 5K. I have been using the Couch to 5K training program provided by Cape Cod Healthcare and it’s easy to follow,” said Cape Cod National Seashore Superintendent Kathy Tevyaw. “We look forward to promoting the beauty of our natural surroundings and building a healthier community through this event.

Registration is available at www.southshorerace.com. The cost to participate for adults is $25, $30 on race day. Children pay $15 in advance and $20 on race day while the cost for seniors is $20 and $25 on race day.
