EASTHAM – The Little Creek Parking Lot on Doane Road in Eastham will serve as temporary overflow parking for Coast Guard Beach.
That’s according to the Cape Cod National Seashore who will have the lot open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the spring season.
Seashore staff will be on hand to collect fees and run the trams on Memorial Day Weekend and will continue on weekends until June 16 when they will also be collecting fees on weekdays.
The decision to have the lot serve as temporary overflow parking was the result of a request from Eastham residents at the May 19 public information meeting about Nauset Light Beach.
Seashore staff will monitor the lot to see if there are any operational issues.
Once the summer fee program is fully staffed, the lot will remain open during operating hours.
The situation will also be reviewed if a similar opening will be allowed for the fall shoulder season.
