Seashore Issues Drone Ban Reminder

National SeashoreEASTHAM – Park rangers at the Cape Cod National Seashore have issued a reminder to the public: leave the drones at home.

Drone use is banned on all lands at the National Seashore, and at all national parks nationwide. The policy was implemented following incidents at parks in the Western U.S. where drones interfered with firefighting efforts and were used to harass wildlife.

National Seashore officials report that some drone users have been spotted harassing animals at the Seashore. Those users are now facing criminal citations.

The maximum penalty for unauthorized unmanned aircraft use at a national park is six months and jail and a $5,000 fine.
