HARWICH – Several local Conservation Trusts are sponsoring a series of guided Native American history walking tours next month.
Twelfth generation Cape Codder Todd Kelley and native Nipmuck/Wampanoag Marcus Hendricks will lead three interpretive walks that will explore the history of the Cape from the first people and early European settlers to the current day.
The series of walks follows a progressive storyline about human settlement near freshwater sources and coastal water embayments.
The first walk will be held on Saturday, April 9 along the Herring River Valley in Harwich.
The second walk is in Brewster on the April 16 and will explore the first people at Saquatucket to John Wing and Quaker Path.
The last walk will be held on April 23 in Dennis at the barrier beach and estuary at Nobscusset.
The price for one or all of the walks is $45 and advanced registration is required. Space is limited.
Directions will be emailed along with registration confirmation.
Visit harwichconservationtrust.org to register.
The walks are sponsored by the Harwich, Brewster and Dennis Conservation Trusts and the Native Land Conservancy.
