Series of Talks in Brewster to Focus on Pond Ecology

BREWSTER – The Brewster Ponds Coalition will host three pond ecology talks next month.

The series will feature presentations by experts from the Association to Preserve Cape Cod on February 8, 15 and 22 at the Brewster Ladies’ Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Jo Ann Murmoto, the association’s director of science programs, will present “Understanding Cape Cod’s Freshwater Ponds” on February 8. The talk will focus on the geology, hydrology and ecology of ponds.

The February 15 talk “Pond Friendly Practices” will be presented by Kristen Andres, the association’s director of education and outreach and will focus on pond stewardship and the value of native plants.

The final talk on February 22, “Freshwater Pond Restoration and Preservation” with APCC Restoration Technician Bryan Horsley, will cover treatment options available once a ponds water quality has degraded.

To register for the events visit brewsterponds.org. Admission is free for Brewster Ponds Coalition and Association to Preserve Cape Cod members and a $10 donation is suggested for others.
