Annual Service to Honor Cape Cod’s Homeless On Longest Night of the Year

The community gathered in December of 2016 to honor the homeless men and women on Cape Cod who died throughout the year.

HYANNIS – The community will gather on December 21 in Hyannis to honor the homeless men and women on Cape Cod who have died this year.

Twenty-three individuals on the Cape who were homeless or previously homeless have died in 2017 and a memorial service will be held at the Federated Church at 5 p.m.

Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day services are held annually across the country on the longest night of the year.

The service will begin outside of the church with brief opening remarks led by Dan McCullough of Homeless Outreach Team M25.

Attendees will then go inside for the formal service.

An informal gathering will be held with food and beverages in the church hall immediately following the service.

Donations of new socks, hats and gloves are also welcome.
