Session Scheduled For Proposed Falmouth Solar Project

solar panelsFALMOUTH – Town officials in Falmouth will hold an informational session tonight on plans to put a solar array in at the town landfill.

Proposals call for placing the panels at the closed and capped part of the property off Thomas Landers Road. Proponents say the town could save between $200,000 and $500,000 in energy costs each year if the array is installed.

The matter will be considered at town meeting on November 9th when residents vote on three articles related to the project. To gain approval, residents will have to re-zone part of the landfill, enter into a lease agreement, and approve land easements.

Tonight’s informational session starts at 6:30 at the Falmouth Public Library.
