Shark Activity Closes Several Outer Cape Beaches Temporarily on Saturday

ORLEANS – Several Outer Cape Beaches were temporarily closed yesterday due to shark activity.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, there was a confirmed predation off Nauset Public Beach in Orleans just before 10 a.m.

The closure of Nauset Beach was extended to 11:30 a.m. after another sighting north of Trail 3 at Nauset South.

Race Point Beach in Provincetown was closed for an hour after the Cape Cod National Seashore confirmed a sighting around 11:30 a.m.

Lifeguards confirmed a white shark sighting just after noon at Cahoon Hollow Beach in Wellfleet, closing the beach until 1:15 p.m.

And a temporary no swimming order was issued by national seashore officials at Head of the Meadow Beach in North Truro after a sighting in the afternoon.
