ORLEANS – Multiple Outer Cape beaches were closed to swimming Sunday due to shark sightings.

Nauset Public Beach in Orleans and Coast Guard Beach in Eastham were closed to swimming this morning.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, the Nauset Beach sighting was 15 yards from shore in front of the northern lifeguard stand around 10 a.m.

Spotter planes also reported a shark off Coast Guard Beach just after 11.

Closures are in place for one hour, pending any further sightings.
