Shark Spotted Eating Seal off Monomoy

CHATHAM – Research teams with the Atlantic White Shark conservancy came across a shark eating a seal Monday morning off the coast of Monomoy.

The incident happened during one of the organization’s research trips in local waters. The shark was not tagged.

10 sharks in total have been tagged off the coast of Cape Cod this year.

24 sharks were tagged last year, up from 18 in 2014.

Last year, 141 sharks were identified in Cape waters, up from 68 in the previous year.

Of the sharks identified last year, 101 of them had not been previously spotted.
