“Shop Local” on Saturday on Hyannis Main Street

KA_Hyannis_Historic Main street sign_11315HYANNIS – The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District is hosting their bi-annual “Shop Local Day” on Saturday.

The event is an effort to get Cape residents to spend their dollars locally.

Around 40 businesses on Main Street will be offering sales, discounts and deals for the event.

“It’s our tradition to make a day out of the practice of shopping locally, which we now know about, is healthier for the community and it keeps our local businesses going,” said District Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain.

There will be balloons and posters at the locations of the participating businesses of the event.

According to the District, local businesses give three times the amount to a local community than national businesses.

“We love local businesses but we have to actually support them and when we make a choice to shop or stroll, we should be in the places where we want to see change happen,” said Wurfbain.
