Shuttle Still a Part-Time Possibility at Monomoy Refuge

KA_Osprey_Monomoy Wildlife Refuge_082516_012CHATHAM – Despite selectmen rejecting a shuttle approach to solving downtown parking congestion, there may still be a shuttle running between downtown and Monomoy – just not full-time.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will use funds awarded years ago to purchase a 12-person shuttle for use at its wildlife refuges.

Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge manager Matthew Hillman said it will serve more than one refuge.

“We’ll be using that shuttle throughout the entire refuge complex, from Oxbow NWR in Harvard to here in Monomoy,” he said.

Hillman said Refuge officials will continue to work with selectmen on establishing a beach shuttle in the future.

The shuttle will be purchased by the service this fall.
