Sidney Simon Artwork To Be Displayed in Provincetown This Fall

Provincetown Art Association MuseumPROVINCETOWN – The works of Provincetown artist Sidney Simon will be on display beginning later this month.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum will open a centennial exhibition of Simon’s works with a reception on Friday, September 23rd at 6 p.m. The exhibit will be in place through November 6.

Simon was well known for his sculptures. He worked mostly with bronze, clay, and terra cotta. Simon was commissioned for a number of public displays, including sculptures at the World Wide Plaza in Manhattan, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and the Graham Building in Philadelphia.

Simon was a fixture in the Provincetown art scene for many years, showing regularly at the Long Point gallery beginning in the 1970s until his death in 1997.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum was formed in 1914 and aims to build a collection of works by outer Cape artists.
