BREWSTER – Lower Cape Indivisible and the Harvard Medicine Indivisible are partnering to host a forum this evening regarding the benefits and drawbacks of a single-payer health care system.
The panel discussion will feature medical and public health professors from both Harvard and Boston University, as well as a representative from the SEIU Union representing more than 300,000 United Health Workers.
Other topics expected to be addressed include the fear that comes when losing health coverage, potential cuts to Medicaid, and the future of the Affordable Care Act.
Single-payer health care proposals have already been designed for the State of Vermont, and legislation to create single-payer systems has been introduced in both the Massachusetts Legislature and the U. S. Congress.
Lower Cape Indivisible and Harvard Medicine Indivisible were formed after the presidential election with the goal of protecting and improving health care and other issues.
The program will take place tonight, from 7 PM until 9 PM at First Parish (Unitarian) Church in Brewster. The event is free and open to the public.
