Sixth Annual Behavioral Health Summit Coming to Hyannis

HYANNIS – The sixth annual Cape Cod and Islands Behavioral Health Summit is coming to the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis this October.

The event, scheduled for October 5, is organized by the Behavioral Health Provider Coalition of Cape Cod and the Islands. The coalition is comprised of 30 organizations, agencies, and primary care providers serving the residents of the Cape and Islands with mental health needs.

“This is a day where we offer a platform for the community providers of Cape Cod to learn, network, and enjoy the day,” said Diane Ofria, Co-Chair of the Coalition and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner of the Cape Cod Healthcare Partial Hospital Program.

Those who provide services to those suffering from issues with mental health are invited to the summit, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses, administrators, peer advocates, first responders, teachers, and other health professionals serving children and families in the community.

This year’s summit includes internationally known speakers, healthcare leaders, public safety officials and peer advocates presenting their expertise in addressing wellness through the behavioral health lens.

The opening keynote speaker will be Dr. Robert Brooks Ph.D., a consultant in psychology at McLean Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School. Brooks will speak about “The Power of Mindsets: Nurturing Hope and Resilience in Ourselves and Others.”

Dr. Jeffrey Rediger MD, MDIV, has been selected as the closing keynote speaker. Rediger is the Medical Director of McLean’s southeast psychiatric programs and also works at Harvard Medical School as an Instructor in Psychiatry. He will speak about “A Medicine of Hope and Possibility: Hope for Both Patients and Practitioners.”

Lunch will be served at the summit with breaks scheduled for the morning and afternoon.

Registration will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the ballroom foyer. The registration fee is $65 with lunch included. Introductions are scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. and will last until 9:00 a.m.
