Slip Repair Work to Delay Some Steamship Authority Freight Runs

WOODS HOLE – There will be small delays to the Steamship Authority’s freight boat schedule in Woods Hole for the next few days.

Repair work is underway on the corner dolphin on the north side of Slip 1 at the Woods Hole Terminal, meaning ferries docking from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. will only be able to use one slip.

Boat line officials say freight boat arrivals and departures will be delayed up to 15 minutes as a result of the construction.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the Steamship Authority wrote in a release.

Three Steamship Authority vessels have been plagued by mechanical issues in recent months, forcing the cancellation of more than 500 trips since the beginning of the year. Earlier this week, the board voted to conduct an independent review of their operations.
