Solicitation By-Law Successful, Yarmouth Police Say

Yarmouth PoliceYARMOUTH – Yarmouth police say the town’s by-law banning unwanted door-to-door solicitation has been successful.

Residents can choose to opt-in to the program if they don’t want door-to-door salesmen coming to their homes.

Additionally, businesses interesting in going door-to-door must register with Yarmouth police to ensure their legitimacy.

“It has worked. It has reduced all these concerns that the citizens had. It has reduced the calls to the police. The legitimate companies can still do what they’re supposed to do, and the ones that aren’t just don’t come into down. So it’s worked very well,” said Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos.

Xiarhos said any residents interested in opting in to the program can sign up at the police station.
