Southcoast Health Announces Grants For Local Non-Profits

southcoast logoWAREHAM – Southcoast Health has awarded grant funding to 22 non-profit organizations in the region in an effort to reduce some of the region’s unmet healthcare needs.

The new Community Benefits Impact Opportunity program will provide $135,000 in funding to support substance abuse programming, additional maternal and children’s healthcare, and efforts to reduce chronic disease in the area.

The company said it had an overwhelming response to the available grants and plans to make the program an annual occurrence.

“We are driven by our mission of promoting the optimal health and well-being of individuals in the communities we serve,” said Keith Hovan, the President and CEO of Southcoast Health.

The Wareham School Department, YMCA South Coast, and YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts were among the grant recipients.

Southcoast Health is the parent company of Tobey Hospital in Wareham.
