SANDWICH – Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod is constructing a 1,100 kW solar installation over 7 acres of their 45 acre property.
The project is expected to offset about 40 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions over a 20 year period, the equivalent of taking 185 cars off the road permanently.
Sponsored by Partners HealthCare, Current, and Powered by GE, the project is one of many that Spaulding has undertaken to reduce negative environmental impacts from operations.
The hospital is part of Partners HealthCare, which has set a goal to meet or exceed the state’s mandate of offsetting emissions of greenhouse gasses 25 percent by 2020.
Panels will also be installed on car ports being erected over existing parking spaces.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
