Stanford Professor to Give Lecture at Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole

 

Dr. John Dabiri

WOODS HOLE – Stanford Professor John Dabiri will discuss his research regarding the perpetual teeming of swimming animals, and their possible effect on the physical and biochemical structure of the ocean next month at the Marine Biological Laboratory Friday Evening Lecture in Woods Hole.

Dabiri is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and conducts research on how science and technology intersects with fluid mechanics, energy and environment, and biology.

“Popular Science Magazine” named him one of its “Brilliant 10” scientists for his research in bio-inspired propulsion, while “Bloomberg BusinessWeek” magazine listed him as one of their Technology Innovators for his work in bio-inspired wind energy.

He has received many honors for his work, including a MacArthur Fellowship, a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, and most recently, the Eugene L. Grant Award for Excellence in Teaching.

The lecture will take place Friday August 2nd, at 8 p.m. in the Lillie Auditorium at 7 MBL Street in Woods Hole.
