HYANNIS – Cape Cod Community College’s Center for Corporate and Professional Education on Main Street in Hyannis has been awarded $122,000 in grant funding from the state.
The center was awarded the grant through the State Direct Access Program through the Baker Administration’s Workforce Training Fund to provide training in interpersonal skills to businesses and organizations in the Cape Cod and South Coast region.
The program, which will be funded for two years, will train employers to help their workers engage their customers more personally, improve their ability to respond to clients and create a more positive workplace atmosphere.
“Many of the employers in this region are small businesses with 100 employees or fewer and they need access to affordable workforce training options to enhance the skill sets of their employees,” said Tammi Jacobsen, the director of workforce development and training at the center. “This was created specifically for smaller-scale training needs and covers the entire cost of training for businesses of all sizes.”
The grants make training slots available free of charge to eligible businesses.
Jacobsen said the only cost to employers is their wages while they are being trained. All other costs are covered by the grant funding.
