BOSTON – Over $2,000,000 in state grants and bonding authorizations have been approved and awarded to the 1st Barnstable District according to a release from State Representative Timothy Whalen, they total $2,784,500.
Three amendments Whelan filed to this year’s Environmental Bond Bill were included in a final conference committee report, authorizing $1.7 million in funding for three priority projects in the 1st Barnstable District.
Funding authorizations include $1 million for the Dennis-Harwich-Yarmouth Clean Waters Community Partnership, to fund initial design and engineering costs associated with wastewater mitigation in the three towns.
Also authorized was $700,000 for two projects in the town of Brewster. $300,000 has been authorized toward extending the wing wall of Freeman’s Pond Culvert at Paine’s Creek Beach. Additionally $400,000 was authorized toward the restoration and repair of the retaining wall at the historic Stony Brook Grist Mill and Herring Run.
Also, last week the Town of Dennis was awarded $825,000 in Community Development Block Grants, that’s in addition to $99,000 for safety upgrades to the Cape Cod Rail Trail and $120,500 for a sustainable Materials Recovery Program.
Brewster received a $40,000 grant to improve access at Drummer Boy Park.
