State Grant Supports 4C’s Programs That Advance STEM Education

CCCCBARNSTABLE – Cape Cod Community College will use $40,000 from the state’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Pipeline Fund to underwrite the continuing work of the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network.

The funding will expand the college’s efforts to engage middle and high school students throughout the region.

“Our collective efforts continue to increase engagement in and raise awareness about the importance of STEM education both of our economy and the new opportunities it creates for our young people,” said Governor Charlie Baker.

The focus at the college is on computer science and engineering initiatives and the grant will allow a unique teaching outreach to continue this school year.

Through mechanical design courses at five partnering high schools, including Barnstable, Bourne, Cape Cod Technical Vocational School, Monomoy and Sandwich, students will gain both high school and college credits for completing the courses.

Since its inception in 2014, the network has become a hub for STEM education in the region, including in Wareham, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.
