BOSTON – Residents interested in learning more about the inner-workings of state government and the legislature can apply to take part in the 78th annual Citizens Legislative Seminar.
The two-day event will walk attendees through the process of introducing, debating, and passing bills and will give participants a peak into the day-to-day lives of state legislators.
The semi-annual seminar will be held on March 21 and 22 at the State House. The course wraps up with a simulated hearing and Senate session and with participants putting what they learned into practice as a “Senator.”
The course was started in 1976 as a collaboration between the State Senate and the University of Massachusetts as a way to increase civic engagement.
In a release, State Senator Vinny deMacedo called the seminar “an opportunity to learn about the legislative process.”

Nominations are due by January 20 and space is limited.
