State Police Execute Pot Raid on Nantucket

NANTUCKET – State police on Nantucket have arrested a Nantucket man for suspected marijuana distribution.

State Trooper Kevin Bates of the State Police Barracks in Nantucket stopped a 2014, GMC 1500 pickup, which was being operated without any lights on Sparks Avenue in Nantucket on November 7 shortly after 8 p.m.

After a subsequent investigation, the operator of the vehicle, Matthew Fry, 24, of Nantucket, was placed under arrest for possession of a marijuana with the intent to distribute.

He was issued a civil citation for operating in the nighttime without lighting.

In addition to a quantity of suspected marijuana, Trooper Bates seized more than $14,000.

Fry was transported to the Nantucket Police Department for booking and held pending bail.  He will be arraigned today in Nantucket District Court.
