State Receives $1 Million in COVID Relief from FEMA

HYANNIS – Families across the state will benefit from an over $1 million award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for COVID relief.

The award provides $1,014,690.10 in federal funding to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families for Emergency Protective Measures as a result of the pandemic.

“The coronavirus pandemic created an immediate threat to State of Massachusetts public health and safety. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the Massachusetts child welfare agency, responsible for providing services to children who are at risk, or have been victims of, abuse or neglect, as well as their families,” said FEMA officials in a statement.

DCF also provides foster care and congregate care for children who cannot remain in their homes.
