BOSTON – State Representative Randy Hunt (R-Sandwich) has been appointed to two legislative committees for the new session.
Hunt was named as the Ranking Minority Member for both the Joint Committee on Revenue and the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing by Minority Leader Bradley Jones.
He has served on the Revenue Committee since 2013, and has been the Ranking Minority Member on Health Care Financing since 2017.
As a member of the Revenue Committee, Hunt will assist his colleagues in reviewing legislation pertaining to state tax revenues and federal financial assistance.
In the Health Care Financing role, Hunt will help evaluate legislation that has a fiscal impact on the state’s health care programs, including Medicaid, MassHealth and the Uncompensated Care Pool.
“Randy’s financial background as a certified public accountant makes him a perfect fit for these two committees,” said Jones.
“I am confident he will continue to bring valuable insight and fiscal expertise to both committees as they consider proposed changes to state tax and health care policies over the next two years.”
Jones also picked Hunt as his designee on the newly-created Tax Expenditure Commission.
The commission, which is made up of 12 members, is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness and fiscal impact of state tax expenditures and will be conducting an ongoing review of all tax expenditures at least once every five years moving forward.
