State Rep. Whelan Endorsed by Massachusetts Teachers Association

BREWSTER – Brewster State Representative Tim Whelan has received another endorsement in his campaign for re-election.

The Massachusetts Teachers Association, which represents around 110,000 members in nearly 400 local associations, have put their support behind Whelan.

“Tim Whelan is on the right course regarding issues crucial to students and educators,” said MTA President Merrie Najimy, “As a state representative, he is an advocate for public education at all levels. He demonstrates a deep understanding of the connection between strong public schools, excellent public colleges and universities, and thriving communities. MTA members are recommending Tim Whelan in the 1st Barnstable district.”

“As the husband, son, brother, nephew, son-in-law, and nephew of public school educators, I am proud beyond words to receive the endorsement of the MTA”, Rep. Whelan stated.  “My commitment remains solidly with the women and men who work hard every day to educate and mentor our children, through their hard work and commitment to enriching our next generation of leaders in the Commonwealth”.

Rep. Whelan is serving in his second term serving the 1st Barnstable District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. 

He serves as the Ranking member on the Joint Committee on Public Service.  He also serves on the House Committee on Ways & Means and on the Joint Committee on Higher Education.

His campaign has previously been endorsed by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Brewster, Dennis and Yarmouth Fire Fighters and the Brewster Police Union.
