EASTHAM – Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has appointed The Community Development Partnership’s Executive Director Jay Coburn to the newly created Rural Policy Advisory Commission.
The board will advise state government on proposed and existing state laws and regulations in relation to the 171 rural communities in Massachusetts, with the hopes of improving overall quality of life.
“This is a commission that will bring some attention and focus about how new state programs and existing state programs are either helping or hindering our rural communities,” Coburn said. “For far too long, the 171 rural communities in Massachusetts, which includes seven towns on the Lower Cape, have lacked a forum to discuss state policy and how to best meet the complex needs of rural towns.”
Coburn’s term on the board will last for three years.
