State Senate Passes Budget that Includes Funding for New Cape Tech High School

HARWICH – Cape Cod Regional Technical High School could get some more help from the state when it comes to funding their proposed new school.

The state senate approved a supplemental budget that includes language to increase the state’s contribution to the building of the new Cape Tech facility, by $5.3 million.

The measure now goes to Governor Charlie Baker for his signature.

A district-wide election will be held on October 24^th to authorize the debt for the project.

Cape and Islands State Senator Julian Cyr and Provincetown State Representative Sarah Peake helped to secure the language in the budget.

“This measure will save local taxpayers millions of dollars and help our communities finance the proposed $128 million Cape Tech project,” said Cyr.

Cape Tech Superintendent Robert Sanborn expressed his gratitude to the legislators.

“Thank you to Representative Sarah Peake for spearheading this initiative in the House, and to Senator Cyr for ensuring its adoption in the Senate,” said Sanborn.
