State Senator Vinny deMacedo Honored by Massachusetts Police Association

vinnyPLYMOUTH – Plymouth-Barnstable State Senator Vinny deMacedo was named Legislator of the Year recently by the Massachusetts Police Association for his efforts in advocating for police officers and public safety in the state.

For years, deMacedo has sponsored and co-sponsored budget amendments to increase municipal funding for police training.

During deliberations for the FY 2017 budget, the Association said that deMacedo was a strong advocate for an amendment that would create $300,000 in funding for bulletproof vests for municipal police departments.

“We are honored to recognize Senator deMacedo for his years of dedication to law enforcement and public safety,” said Massachusetts Police Association Executive Director James Machado.

Machado added that deMacedo has previously sponsored legislation relative to addiction education for junior operators and mandatory sentencing for individuals who commit assault on a law enforcement officer.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by the Massachusetts Police Association,” said deMacedo. “It is my privilege to be able to advocate on their behalf and support their efforts to enhance public safety while they put their lives on the line on a daily basis to do the difficult work of keeping our communities safe.”
