The Massachusetts unemployment rate increased slightly to 5.6 percent from June to July, according to the New England Information Office of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The unemployment rate for the Commonwealth was 5.5 percent in June.
The rate for all of New England is 5.8 percent in July, which is lower than the National average at 6.2 percent.
Rhode Island has the highest unemployment rate at 7.7 percent and Vermont has the lowest at 3.7 percent.
