SANDWICH – The state wants answers from Heritage Museums and Gardens as to whether or not they purposely misidentified the location address of its aerial adventure park.
An email was sent from the state Department of Public Safety to the organization last week, asking Heritage officials to respond on the issue.
The department’s chief of inspections for building, Robert Anderson, explained in the message that there have been complaints that have alleged that false information was provided to the department.
Records show that officials have named Heritage Museums and Gardens address in Sandwich, 67 Grove Street, as the address for the aerial park, but residents have complained that the actual addresses are 0 Shawme Road and 0 Pocasset Road.
The state has asked that Heritage respond to their inquiries by Wednesday.
The park has so far been a success this summer for Heritage Museums and Gardens, since it opened on May 16.
Officials say that there are wait lists to get in the park, and reservations are usually sold out in the early morning hours.
The popularity of the park and the heavy traffic has been a big concern for neighbor Judy Stainbrook, who said the new park has had a negative effect on her neighborhood.
“People can’t walk their dogs, they keep their children in the back,” said Stainbrook.
“The little ones used to be out there learning how to ride their two wheelers, now they’re selling the house and moving.”
Heritage Museums and Gardens has issued a statement on the matter, saying that “Heritage has, at every step in the process of creating the Adventure Park, sought and obtained appropriate permits.”
The statement adds that Sandwich resident Carlo DiPersio “has made a series of ill-informed and legally baseless assertions that relate to the permitting of the Museum’s opened Adventure Park exhibit” and that he has “wrongfully attempted to tarnish the reputation of the Museum.”
Stainbrook said she hopes the state takes action on Heritage and removes the aerial park.
“We want it taken down and we want our neighborhood streets, in this quiet, lovely, peaceful neighborhood to be ours again,” said Stainbrook.
