CAPE COD- Following an inspection by Steamship Authority personnel and with approval of the U.S. Coast Guard, the M/V Island Home will return to service for the rest of the day.
Subsequent trips will run with both primary generators activated on the vessel, to counteract any mechanical failures.
In addition, SSA personnel will be stationed at the backup generator to manually activate it should it fail.
The Steamship hopes to make up lost time tonight, and get back on schedule quickly.
